TAMA ARTISTS - YOUR SETS

These are sets that in some way are unique, rare or custom. If you have a set that is one or all of those things, please send it in. I'd like to post a pic of one of every set. This was my idea for an Expose Your Kit section that Tama later used on their site.

DO NOT USE THESE SHOTS ON OTHER SITES UNLESS YOU OWN THEM OR KNOW THE OWNERS!

ROYALSTAR

From different eras.

IMPERIALSTAR

FIBRE STAR

Blues show up often enough - but I finally added a rarer red kit.

SUPERSTAR

Neil Peart set-ups

The one on the left was sold to Mike Ramsey who displayed his kit on Tama's Expose Your Kit gallery with oversized Rush stickers on the front. The snare, timbales and gong basses were sold separately before he bought the other drums. The other kit is Joe C.'s. and it was sold recently.

This is a replica built by an Italian Rush fan - one of the few enamored by Neil Peart's first Tama kit. He couldn't get that so he made his own, but recovering a Superstar in a matte veneer (Neil's was dyed.) The percussion was accumulated by checking ebay every day, and when the elusive Slingerland snare identical to Neil's turned up, he even convinced the seller to end the auction early. (there were at least 5 other guys who would have driven it up past $300 which is probably what he paid). Attention to details (many outlined in the book Rush: Merely Players) makes this hands down, the most faithful replica I ever saw.

In a few other shots, you can see there are timbales and 20"/22" gong bass drum. Also note the Tama calendar on the wall, as seen on this site and Tama Mirage heads on the 14" deep basses. Most CAR basses were sold in 16" and Xtra sized. Not to mention the offset 12" tom mount, badges facing out, and the overall flawless condition. This was purchased at once brand new (and not modified or bought piece by piece). Other pics were taken but not enough room for all - onto the next set!

Ah...same kind of set...but with Power Windows Rush heads and 5" snare.

a hybrid Superstar/Artstar looking a lot like a Yamaha Recording Custom.

ARTSTAR

About time we get a cordia Artstar. What better set-up than a Simon Phillips config, with matching gong bass drum? This set belongs to Richard in Germany.

On the right is a famous ball player - with a VERY RARE candy apple red Artstar. Friend of Rush's. Anyone know who? (No one has figured this out yet!)

GRANSTAR

Can you guess who this famous ball player is? (another Rush connection)

GRANSTAR CUSTOM

Does this count as a Superstar or a GC? It has the rare power sized toms in this finish but the bass drum is a GC.
